Nick Daschel of The Oregonian/OregonLive joined me for a discussion about Oregon State football. The Beavers are coming off a Pac-12 road win and chasing their first back-to-back victories since the 2016 season. OSU hosts Utah on Saturday. Daschel, the beat reporter who covers the team, talked about Oregon State’s efficiency on offense vs. an impressive Utah front seven, and the future of star Beavers’ receiver Isaiah Hodgins.

Will Hodgins be back for a senior season?

Also, what is it about OSU’s offense that has made it one of the least self-destructive units in football? Quarterback Jake Luton hasn’t thrown an interception (knock on wood) this season and the Beavers’ offense has only one fumble. Oregon State (2-3, 1-1) dominated UCLA in a 48-31 victory last Saturday to pick up just its second victory in the team’s last 20 games against Pac-12 opponents. The Beavers scored their most points in a conference game since running up 49 points against California in 2013. Oregon State racked up 448 total yards and averaged 7.7 yards per play against the Bruins.Oregon State leads the all-time series 11-9-1, but Utah has had the upper hand since joining the Pac-12. The Utes have won three straight over the Beavers dating back to 2014.
